5 Reasons Why the 2019 Forte is a Good ChoiceThe 2019 Kia Forte has been restyled with a sloping roofline and longer hood inspired by the larger Kia Stinger. It has a sportier look and a more aggressive road presence. The four trim levels are FE, LXS, S, and EX. Here are five areas that show why Forte is a great choice.

Power and Performance

Powering the Forte is a 147 horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder 16-valve engine producing 132 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels. On the FE trim, the engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, or you can opt for the intelligent variable transmission (IVT) which is standard on the other models.

Around the city streets, the Forte is zippy and agile, while on the winding back roads you’ll feel the confident and capable handling of its positive steering and smooth, firm braking. With the IVT, the Forte will return up to 34 mpg for combined city and highway driving.

Exterior Styling

On the FE, the redesigned front end has Kia’s distinctive “tiger’s nose” grille flanked by the sleekly styled projector beam automatic headlights and daytime running lights (DRL). The windows have solar control glass to keep the interior cooler. LXS models add 16-inch alloy wheels and a chrome-tipped exhaust. The S trim features 17-inch wheels, LED positioning lights, LED DRL, fog lamps, and LED taillights, while the EX adds heated side mirrors with LED turn signals.

Comfort and Convenience

It may be a compact sedan, but five people can sit in the Forte in comfort. The trunk also has an impressive cargo space capacity of 15.3 cubic feet. Woven cloth seats feature in the FE and LXS, while the premium cloth is added to the S trim. The top-of-the-line EX has simulated leather upholstery with a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat as well as heated and ventilated front seats.

For convenience, standard features include remote keyless entry and trunk release, a 3.5-inch LCD cluster display for essential driver information, a steering wheel with audio, cruise, and hands-free calling controls, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The EX adds push-button start.

Infotainment

Included with the Forte’s standard infotainment system are an 8-inch touch-screen display with integrated rear-view camera, smartphone integration, Bluetooth wireless technology for hands-free calling and media streaming, four-speaker audio, and USB and auxiliary inputs.

S models add two more speakers and satellite radio, while the EX has two USB charging ports. You can opt for navigation with voice command and a Harman Kardon eight-speaker audio system.

Safety Features

The list of standard safety equipment is impressive and includes traction control, vehicle stability management system, electronic stability control, four-wheel disc brakes with assisted ABS and electronic brake force distribution, and hill start assist.

Driver safety aids include forward collision alert with automatic braking, driver attention alert, and lane departure alert. In addition, the EX has lane change assist and blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warning. You can opt for the available adaptive cruise control and reverse parking sensors.
