5 Family Friendly Things to Do in Vacaville, CANestled between Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area of northern California, Vacaville is home to almost 95,000 people and prides itself as being one of the most family friendly cities of the region. Being bored in Vacaville requires some effort, as many of the year-round attractions can appeal to almost everyone.

Jelly Belly Candy Company

An hour north of  San Francisco, the Jelly Belly Candy hosts 40-minute walking tours of the factory that churns out 150 different flavors of candy. The tantalizing aromas of chocolate, cinnamon, apricot, and pineapple are sure to stimulate the senses and taste buds as the intrigue of large-scale candy making is revealed. Reservations are not required. Daily tours are free and no reservations are needed. Every 15 minutes between  9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the guides lead guests around the factory to explain the interesting process. The tours have attracted much interest, especially during the holiday where waiting may be as much as an hour and a half.

Andrews Park

Bordered by School Street and Monte Vista Avenue in the downtown region, Andrews Park is a popular destination for both visitors and residents. Covering 17.9 acres, the park hosts special events all year round. Featuring intriguing trails with historical kiosks, the Great Wonders Playground, electrical outlets, and BBQ sets are made available for use of visitors.

Scandia Family Fun Center

The Scandia Family Fun Center is the place for all-day family fun in the county of Fairfield, which is only 12 miles to the south. The center features two award-winning mini golf courses with challenging obstacles and an intriguing Scandinavian castle. Assemble a team and combat others in the state of the art laser tag arena, where there is fun for the whole family. Baseball fans will enjoy any of the 18 pitching machines that simulate baseball and softball cages. A raceway and Bugs Bumper Boats provide more fun for racing enthusiasts and water lovers.

ExplorIt Science Center

The ExplorIt Science Center was designed to get families interested in science. The organization now includes a nature center and a science center, and it provides programs throughout 18 counties in northern California. The traveling programs have evolved to attract interest in the sciences while also making them interactive and fun. With varying exhibits, camps, and field trips, the center on 3141 5th Street in Davis is open to the public from 1.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Six Flags Theme Park

The Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Theme Park is just 20 miles away in Vallejo. The remarkable park is jammed with all-day fun for the entire family, regardless of age. You’ll be thrilled by some of the fastest, widest breathtaking rides to be found in the country. The Boomerang coaster with 5Gs of force hurtles through three loops at speeds up to 50 miles per hour. There is even more gravity-defying fun on rides such as Kong and Roar for the thrill seekers.
