<p>The 2018 Kia Sportage comes in three trim levels. These include LX, EX, and SX Turbo. From the exterior, the LX trim level showcases automatic projector beam headlights, a matte black and chrome front grille, a rear spoiler, 17-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable side mirrors, sound-absorbing privacy glass, and LED daytime running lights. In the middle of the pack, the EX comes with projector beam fog lights, a windshield deicer, solar control glass, heated side mirrors, 18-inch alloy wheels, and chrome exterior accents.</p><p>At the top of the choices, the SX Turbo tacks on sporty features like 19-inch alloy wheels, dual chrome exhaust outlets, LED taillights and fog lights, high-beam control, bi-Xenon projector beam headlights, a panoramic sunroof, satin chrome accents, and a power-operated liftgate. </p>
Engine
The lower two trim levels of the 2018 Sportage get their power from a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that pumps out 175 pound-feet of torque and 181 horsepower. With the SX Turbo, you'll get a more capable 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which rates at 260 pound-feet of torque and 240 horsepower. With all-wheel drive, the horsepower drops to 237. Both engines pair with a continuously variable transmission.
Performance
All three models of the 2018 Kia Sportage come with front-wheel drive as standard, although you can upgrade to all-wheel drive. The functional all-wheel drive system offers better handling on rough terrain and in slick road conditions. With the base engine, the EPA-estimated fuel efficiency numbers are 21-23 mpg in the city, 25-30 mpg on the highway, and 22-26 mpg combined, based on front-wheel versus all-wheel drive. The SX Turbo estimates come in at 20-21 mpg in the city, 23-26 mpg on the highway, and 21-23 mpg combined.
Interior
<p>Even the LX trim level of the 2018 Sportage is well-equipped with appealing interior features, such as a height-adjustable driver's seat, a 60/40-split folding and reclining rear seat, a six-speaker sound system with Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port, satellite radio, and a 5-inch touch screen. An optional package adds dual-zone automatic climate control, a power-adjustable driver seat, and a larger 7-inch touch screen with Kia's Uvo interface, which has Apple CarPlay and Android auto smartphone integration.</p><p>The EX adds all of those additional features as standard, as well as a rear USB charging port, leather upholstery, and keyless entry and ignition. Optional packages on this trim level come with a heated steering wheel, a power-adjustable passenger seat, an 8-inch touch screen, navigation, a premium sound system, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. With the SX Turbo, you get everything in the packages, plus a flat-bottom steering wheel and a larger gauge display.</p>
Safety Features
Every 2018 Sportage has a rearview camera, anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, and plenty of air bags. You also get blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert with the midlevel trim. The available LX Technology package comes with forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, and lane departure warning.
