Trim Levels (Exterior)
Kia offers six Sorento trims for the 2019 model year: L, LX, LX V6, EX V6, SX, and SX Limited. Note that the LX and LX V6 have the same setup apart from what lies underneath the hood. At the entry level, the L model boasts exterior amenities such as heated power outside mirrors with integrated turn signals, privacy glass, automatic halogen headlamps, a rear spoiler, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The LX and LX V6 add acoustic glass. With the EX V6, the Sorento gets some opulence in the form of a gloss-black grille, a smart power liftgate, fog lights, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The SX gets 19-inch alloy wheels, chrome accents, and a panoramic sunroof, while the SX Limited boasts power-folding side mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, LED headlights, LED fog lights, and 19-inch chrome wheels. Choose from nine colors for the 2019 Kia Sorento including Sparkling Silver, Snow White, Titanium Silver, Blaze Blue, Sangria, Passion Red, Dragon Brown, Platinum Graphite, and Ebony Black.
Engine (Power)
The 2019 Kia Sorento has engine options for both efficiency and power. Available on the L and LX trims, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder doles out 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. While it has a bit of pep, its smaller displacement makes it a great option for commuters and everyday drivers. This engine pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission. For more power, opt for the standard 3.3-liter V-6 on the other four trims. This behemoth churns out 290 horsepower and 252 pound-feet of torque for lively acceleration and supreme power. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, this engine cooks. Front-wheel drive is standard across the board; all-wheel drive is optional.
Performance
With some extra brawn and stature, the Sorento is a hauling powerhouse. The 2.5-liter engine enables the SUV to pull up to 2,000 pounds, while the V-6 offers 3,500 pounds of towing power. Fuel economy is above average on both models, but the four-cylinder is slightly more efficient at 29 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg in the city. The V-6 gets 26 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg in the city.
Interior
The roomy interior of the Sorento allows you to accommodate up to seven passengers, making you the king or queen of the carpool lane. If you value storage space, the Sorento has up to 73 cubic feet of cargo space, including 38 cubic feet behind the second row and 11.3 cubic feet in the rear.
Safety Features
The 2019 Kia Sorento earns a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Highlights include blind spot collision warning, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and driver attention warning.
